Life's A Beach

I have this little theory that most people can identify with one element more than the others. I have a feeling that deep down, people find that earth, water, wind or fire really stirs their souls. Me? I'm a water girl.
Don't get me wrong, I love rolling hills, a brisk breeze, and a crackling fire, but nothing matches the feeling of tranquility, awe and connection that I feel when gazing at a body of water that reaches out to the horizon.
So, we recently had the amazing opportunity to take a vacation out to California to attend the US Open at Pebble Beach. It was all amazing. And it'll take a few posts to share all that I want to. :) As I mentioned before, we recently got a new camera. Part of the reason for the purchase was to be able to take amazing pics during this vacation; it did not disappoint.
Let me tell you, I'm having a hard time narrowing down all the pics we took! So, I'm going to start with the ocean and where we stayed in Carmel-By-The-Sea. DKG had the brilliant idea to rent a house for this trip, rather than staying in a hotel. It was perfect. The house we rented was just about a block from the beach. Seriously. This was the view we had in the morning.
The house was awesome. Three stories, 2 1/2 bedrooms, 3 1/2 bathrooms, 2 balconies, fabulous patio, and this view.
We couldn't have asked for anything better. We all loved hanging out on the balconies to take in the view, sounds, and smells.
We loved, loved, loved staying in Carmel and totally fell in love with the little place. Unfortunately, I didn't take many pictures of the city (town?) itself. Just the beach.
It was my Kumquat's first view of the ocean, after all.
I was impressed how she took the waves in stride. She was a bit apprehensive at first, but DKG helped her check out the waves.
Pretty soon, she was pulling me closer to the water to jump the waves with her.
And then she felt ready to stand on her own! Such a big girl. :)
So, that was our first day in CA! More to come about the rest of our time there.

  1. These pics are beautiful, and I absolutely love the ones with you all by the ocean. Definitely need to do a giant collage and hang those up somewhere! Oh, and I also hate you for getting to a beach this summer. Don't take it personally though, I hate anyone who went on ANY kind of vacation this summer. ;)

  2. And by vacation, you mean anything that doesn't involve a load of kids and dogs begging for your love, attention and energy, right? ;)
